Esce a gennaio Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan
La compilation di cover di Bob Dylan il cui incasso andrà a favore di Amnesty International che fu fondata pochi mesi prima della pubblicazione del primo album di Dylan, sarà veramente "monumentale". Sarà composta da ben 4 CD per un totale di 72 canzoni interpretate da moti nomi celebri della musica internazionale alle quali va aggiunta la conclusiva Chimes of Freedom dello stesso Dylan. La versione digitale conterrà 3 pezzi bonus.
Oltre ai nomi che erano già circolati nelle ultime settimane si scopre ora che a cantare la mitica "Blowing in the wind" sarà Ziggy Marley, Carly Simon interpreta "Just Like a Woman" e ai Maroon 5 toccherà il non facile compito di riprendere "I Shall Be released".
Tra le presenze più curiose quella di Ke$ha che canta "Don't think twice, it's alright". La cantante ha dichiarato "Se uno pensa a me, non gli viene certo in mente Bob Dylan. Però lui è stato molto influente. E' uno che scrive la sua musica e pensa veramente ciò che dice; anch'io scrivo la mia musica e dico veramente ogni caZzo di parola che canto".
Tra i nomi eccellenti figurano Sting, Patti Smith e Mark Knopfler mentre sicuramente i fan del grande menestrello americano storceranno il naso nel sentire le canzoni di Dyna interpretate da teen idol come Miley Cyrus, Natasha Bedingfield e My Chemical Romance.
Tutti gli artisti hanno lavorato a titolo gratuito proprio per sostenere la causa dei diritti fondamentali dell’uomo. Quasi 30 canzoni sono state mixate gratis dal celebre ingegnere del suono Bob Clearmountain. L’immagine di copertina è un’illustrazione di Mick Haggerty, vincitore di un Grammy Award per la copertina di Breakfast in America dei Supertramp.
