Rod Stewart: molte cover nel box set 'Live 1976-1998: Tonight's the night'

Saranno molte le cover - alcune delle quali del tutto inedite - contenute nel cofanetto 'Live 1976-1998: Tonight's the night' che Rod Stewart pubblicherà  ufficialmente il prossimo 17 marzo.

Saranno 4 CD contenenti  ben 58 registrazioni live inedite per ripercorrere oltre 20 anni di carriera del cantante scozzese.

Il primo CD conterrà le performance dei tour in Inghilterra nel 1976, nel secondo sono inclusi estratti dello show al Forum di Los Angeles del 1979 e da quello al Wembley Stadium dell'anno successivo. Il terzo album  parte comprende i concerti di San Diego del 1984 e quello del 1989 ai Meadowlands, New Jersey; l'ultimo CD è dedicato al periodo tra il 1991 e il 1998 con, tra le altre cose, il live a Wembley (1991) e quello al Greeek Theater di Los Angeles (1993).

Tra le cover più interessanti figurano gli omaggi alle "nuove leve" della musica britannica come la cover di "Cigarettes And Alcohol” degli Oasis e quella di "Rocks" dei Primal Scream’ refistrate a Londra nel 1998.

Ma sono inediti anche gli omaggi a Bruce Springsteen (con la celebre "Hungry Heart") e a BB King (con "Rock me baby").

Secondo SecondHandSongs Rod Stewart ha inciso nella sua carriera solista ben 209 cover e molte sono presenti nella raccolta: da "Get Back" dei Beatles a "Downtown Train" di Tom Waits.
