Tom Waits: in arrivo un album tributo con Springsteen, Cash e i Ramones

In arrivo un interessante album tributo dedicato a Tom Waits.
La Ace Records ha annunciato l'uscita, prevista per il 29 maggio, di "Where the Willow and the Dogwood Grow". Tra i grandi nomi che reinterpretano i brani di Tom Waits e della coautrice (nonché moglie) Kathleen Brennan spiccano Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, il compianto Johnny Cash, i Ramones e molti altri.
L'album raccoglie in totale 19 cover accuratamente selezionate, molte delle quali scelte dagli autori stessi per rappresentare al meglio la propria visione del repertorio del cantautore americano.
Kathleen Brennan è da tempo coautrice e produttrice di Waits. Spesso il marito le attribuisce il merito di averlo spinto verso direzioni musicali più sperimentali e audaci. "Mi ha salvato" – ha dichiarato Waits al Guardian – "Forse l'ho salvata anch'io, spesso funziona così. Il punto è che siamo finiti entrambi sulla stessa barca che faceva acqua. Io sono solo la figura di riferimento, ma è lei al timone della nave."
